Getting ready for Watershed on Sunday

Looking forward to my 1st session at Watershed this weekend. It is the Volunteer session that lasts 5 days
You work 6 hours and get studio time while you are there. They give free room and board.

I will take a bag of clay with me and my tools and check this place out. Tomorrow I will make a dozen loaves of bread to take up and share. I know I can make bread I am still working on making pots.

Attached is a few photos of a perfectly good pot I let fall to the ground I have since repaired it and will make another soon.

Using underglaze

So I etched into the clay body an image that I got from The Big Island
I think this will be a nice touch and plan on doing it in various colors

Baskets

So I have had a month of basket sessions where I go for a few hours on Fridays and with a group of nice people I sit around and weave reed into a basket
The 1st one pictured today took mr 3 weeks to complete and I did all the work during the session.
I will probably bring the next project home or to the studio while i work on the it which should get it done quicker. Basket time like pottery time fly s by and so far so good
enjoy the pictures and then we will talk underglaze

New cups Gorilla mugs

I had a great week made a dozen pots on Monday in a newer shape with the intent of making handles for all of them 2 ended up being bottles .
Tuesday I made a couple of nice mugs at the Currier and put handles on the previous 2
On Wednesday we were off from class at The MFA so I made my stencil for the Gorilla and put that on my wet mugs with colored slip. I was very pleased with the results. On Thursday I trimmed them and made handles with my handle tool. Yesterday I put together my griffon grip and trimmed the bottles and carved them.

Pots at the MFA

Check out the leaf in the bottom of the 2nd bowl
The museum tag says it was a product of the leaf during the firing

MFA Boston

So on Friday we went into Boston and had a great day wandering around the MFA
Spent some time looking at pots and all the great stuff there You could easily go there every day for a week and not see everything. Great place

Meat and Potato Bread

Pots and Wasabi Bacon Bread

I have 2 dozen or so tea bowls and cups on the shelf ready for a glaze fire.
Looking forward to the results. I spent some time the other day making marks with rope on a wet surface with good results.
I used a paddle to square up some bowls.
Stopped at Home Depot and bought some various shapes of rope and one small chain that will be nice for making marks as well.

Got back to the office and got a great review on the New Years Bread from Bill that was Potato Sauerkraut. The Meat and Potato bread received rave reviews and even the vegetarian contingent had comments on it, kind of a bacon protest. I will try and post a picture with this post. Over the New Years weekend I made Potato Garlic for the gathering in Stoney Brook as well as Potato Horseradish which came out quite nice.
So next week

Bacon Potato Wasabi Bread I think this will be incredible

Next weekend I am going to go for the Bacon Wasabi Bread
